Feedback & Feature Improvement Suggestions for FC Extensions
First of all, I would like to appreciate the team behind FC Extensions for building such a great collection of extensions for FluentCommunity. Your work adds valuable features to the FluentCommunity ecosystem, and these extensions deserve much more recognition. It is exciting to see developers building tools that help community owners create richer and more functional online communities.
After exploring several of your extensions, I would like to share a few suggestions and issues that I hope you will consider addressing in future updates.
1. Global Search — Bengali Language Support
Currently, Global Search does not seem to work correctly with Bengali search queries. Since FluentCommunity is used by communities around the world, better support for non-English languages, including Bengali, would make this extension much more useful for multilingual communities.
2. Blog & Collections — Integration with Global Search
Posts published through the Blog & Collections extension do not appear in Global Search results. It would be very helpful if content created with Blog & Collections could also be indexed and discovered through Global Search.
3. Blog & Collections — More Display Customization
On single blog posts, there does not appear to be an option to hide certain elements, such as:
- The author's avatar
- The author's name
- The publication date
- The post footer author bio
Adding individual visibility controls for these elements would give administrators greater flexibility to customize their blog layouts.
4. Blog & Collections — Internal Link Navigation
When clicking internal links within a single blog post, the links open in a new tab and redirect to the original URL instead of keeping users within the Blog & Collections experience.
It would be much better if internal links could open within the Blog & Collections interface, where appropriate, providing a smoother and more consistent reading experience.
5. Global Search — Mobile Icon Consistency
The Global Search icon does not appear consistent with FluentCommunity's native icons on mobile devices and smaller screens. Improving its size, alignment, and overall appearance would help create a more seamless user experience.
6. Bookmarks — Profile Button and Responsive Design
The Bookmarks interface does not appear to work correctly on mobile or responsive layouts. Improving its responsiveness would make the feature more accessible across devices.
These suggestions are intended as constructive feedback, not criticism. I genuinely appreciate the effort that goes into developing and maintaining these extensions, and I believe addressing these issues would make them even more powerful, user-friendly, and compatible with FluentCommunity's native experience.
Thank you for your work and for contributing to the FluentCommunity ecosystem. I look forward to seeing how FC Extensions continues to evolve!
Keep up the great work!
Hello Arif,
Thank you for your very comprehensive feedback, as well as your kind messages—I truly appreciate them!
Regarding your feedback, which is both thorough and precise—I will take the time to analyze it all. There are some excellent ideas there.
As for the global search feature, you’re right; I haven’t made it compatible with all languages yet. My priority has been my native language, French, followed by English, which is the most widely used.
While your other requests (which are well-founded) are essentially improvements for a better user experience, the inability to search in your own language is a genuine deal-breaker. No extension should behave that way.
I am therefore escalating your request as a high priority so that it can be addressed as quickly as possible. You can expect an update very, very soon.
The other items will follow afterward.
Have a great day, and talk to you soon!
P.S : If you enjoy using FC Extensions, please feel free to spread the word, tell your friends, share it within other communities, or post about it on social media. It would be a huge help! The more people who use FC Extensions, the better the product will become. I’m doing everything I can on my end, and I’m hopeful that the community will also do its part. Thanks in advance! 👍
Hello Arif
I hope you’re doing well.
Just a quick note to let you know that an update is available.
It specifically addresses the issues you mentioned in points 1 and 2.
I have also improved the extensions based on your requests 3, 4, and 5.
The only remaining item is your request in step 6; I haven’t been able to reproduce it. Could you please send me a screenshot so I can better understand the issue?
In any case, I encourage you to go ahead and install the update. You can do this directly via the Fluent Community settings or from your WordPress back office, where you’ll see a banner for the update.
Talk to you soon, and thanks again for your feedback 👍
